Colour Youth: A Modern and Vibrant Logo for LGBTQ Community

Branding that Represents Unity and Communication

This unique logo was created as an entry for the Young Lions Competition Hellas, where it won the first award and earned Marianna and Katerina a spot at the Cannes Lions International Festival. The logo was designed for Colour Youth, an NGO dedicated to defending the rights of the Greek LGBTQ community.

The Colour Youth logo stands out with its free-hand sketched lines and fonts, which convey the youthful and modern character of the community. The use of fresh colors not only pays homage to the LGBTQ flag but also distinguishes the logo from it, emphasizing the message that "being different is a colorful choice."

Typography was the main technique employed to bring the concept of the logo to life. The hand-sketched design was created in vector format, allowing for its use in various sizes and contexts. It can be used with or without the name Colour Youth, making it versatile for different applications.

The logo's interaction extends beyond its primary form. It can be expanded into four similar logos, each representing one of the four categories of the LGBTQ community: Lesbians (purple), Gay (pink), Bi (yellow), and Trans (blue).

The Colour Youth logo was developed in Athens, Greece, with a tight timeframe of just two days due to the competition's deadlines. Despite the challenges posed by the short timeline and the abundance of existing LGBTQ logos, Marianna and Katerina successfully completed the branding and presented it as a powerful representation of the community.

This design showcases the talent and creativity of Pefani Marianna and Miliaraki Katerina, who were recognized for their outstanding work with the Iron A' Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial standards, contributing to a better world.
